What an amazing day in sports! The US scores at 91’ to advance to the next round of the World Cup - and win their group. On Day 2 of the Mahut v. Isner match, the final set just doesn’t end… Not only is it the longest match in history, but play is suspended due to darkness while the set is tied at 59 games all!! Amusingly, ESPN.com’s headline is “To Infinity And Beyond!”

Meanwhile, in Australian politics, deputy PM Julia Gillard mounts a leadership challenge against PM Kevin Rudd… And looks likely to win, which would make her Australia’s first female PM.

What. A. Day.

EDIT: And Australia has a new Prime Minister, Australia’s first female PM. I reiterate. What. A. Day.

‘sa bit like that, innit?

People suck. That’s all.

And it sounds shallow for me to mention that Central World was burned to just a shell over all the other places that were destroyed, but it’s because I remember physically being there. And it’s weird knowing that somewhere you were standing not long ago isn’t there any more.

I have family and a couple friends in Bangkok.  They’re safe, but to have the city you’re in come down around you like that…

PENNSYLVANIA (KGO) — A Pennsylvania family has a very good reason to let their 8-year-old son watch as much TV as he wants. What he learned by watching the tube may have saved his little sister’s life.

The family says while on vacation a man grabbed Nathan Kuhn’s 4-year-old sister and tried to pull her into his car. That’s when Nathan attacked.

First he grabbed his sister’s arm and pulled her away from the man, and then he turned back around and kicked and scratched him.

When police began questioning Nathan, he calmly explained that he had the suspect’s DNA under his fingernails. When asked how he knew about DNA, Nathan explained he learned by watching NCIS on TV.

“Why did you scratch him,” asked a reporter.

“To get his DNA,” said Nathan.

PALERMO, Sicily (Reuters) - A Sicilian builder transferred from prison to house arrest tried to get himself locked up again to escape arguments with his wife at home, Italian media reported Thursday.

Police charged him with violating the conditions of his sentence and made him go home and patch things up with his wife.

Tricky one.  Leave your thoughts or a comment.

Guy and girl are drunk and in the middle of foreplay. Girl has consented to sex.  Girl then passes out. Guy continues to have sex with her anyway.  Girl later files for rape charges against guy because she was unconscious when he had sex with her.

Does or should this count as rape?

“When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool,” Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. “The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately.

“There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club,” John Duesler, President of The Valley Swim Club said in a statement.

Wow. I didn’t know apartheid was still in effect in the US. I guess we know how that swim club feels about the changes in the White House[1].

[1] Not to mention ‘equality in the workplace’, unless minorities are permitted provided they are in servitude of the clubs guests? Seriously, what century are you in?
