Day 29: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 75.7
Duration: 15’30”
Summary: Hrm… I have apparently finished this challenge but only 29 days? Confused. I’m sure I have recorded every day and I even counted on the calendar. Oh well. In any case, weight is about the same as it usually is. But I have been advised by the parental unit that I appear to have lost weight, so I am guessing it is tone that she is seeing. Wuhoo!
I quite like this program. I feel I am actually doing stuff and that’s it’s actually having an effect. And the fact it keeps track means I’m less inclined to slack off because if I do slack off, it knows.
So… cold/cough is finally starting to clear up, and that means I’m likely to survive moderate now. Restarting the challenge tomorrow at the next calorie burn level up. But I’m not going to post about it any more because you guys are probably sick of it. I might whine from time to time though.
If anyone is keen on home exercise and has a Wii or is inclined to buy a Wii, I do recommend this. But if you don’t already want/have a balance board, don’t buy it just for this ‘game’. The balance board exercises feel like an afterthought, and aren’t incorporated into every workout anyway.
Also, if you’re thinking you’ll be building up nice abs by using this, it ain’t gonna happen. Even if you hold your tummy in for all the exercises like you’re supposed to, you probably won’t notice much in the way of hawt summer abs, bit flatter perhaps but I don’t think you’ll get the definition. Just do a few core muscle exercises (core, pilates, yoga, sit-ups, pick your poison) on top of this and that might do it.
And that’s my 2c as someone who isn’t a fitness trainer/health professional, just someone who is getting more exercise than she used to, and enjoying the process.

Day 28: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 56.4
Duration: 13’56”
Summary: No lunges or squats, yay! Intrigued that the target calorie burn for this last week of workouts is so low though. I would have thought it would keep building up…

Day 26: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 55.9
Duration: 11’43”
Summary: Jump lunges and jump squats. Fark. Pain. And knee was starting to twinge towards the end of them. I think I’ll have to go back to adding another step between to reduce the impact on my knee.

Day 25: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 64.0
Duration: 16’37”
Summary: Didn’t even really start to feel warm. It was a pretty light upper-body workout. Still have this hella annoying cough (I’ve been told irritated airways which I can’t do much about, just a lingering cough) which starts to drive me insane while I’m doing the jogging type exercises (as well as generally all day).
Haven’t had a response from EA support yet via email or phone. Might give them a call again tomorrow and ask if I’m meant to receive confirmation of receipt of my email or if they’ll just post the thing out.

Day 23: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 83.7
Duration: 15’54”
Summary: Got close to feeling a little fuzzy about 2/3 through but managed to push through it. All is well.
Contacted EA support today about the strap. The number is at the back of the instruction booklet in the game case. If you have the same problem, check for the 1300 number in the booklet and don’t call the 1900 number listed on the EA site. For one thing, it’s cheaper. :P
The strap is covered under warranty, and the guy at the 1300 number just told me to email a specific support address with my contact details. They said that they won’t have stock for about 5 days, but I should get a response/confirmation about it before then. No problems at all from the looks of it. Will provide an update as I go.

Day 22: EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge
Calories: 69.1
Duration: 14’59”
Summary: Got a bit light again. But currently coughing my lungs up so figured I’d leave it for now. No new exercises but quite a bit of upper-body resistance work in this workout.
The strap is weakening further. Will see if EA will cover this under warranty, otherwise I’ll either have to get it reinforced or buy another accessory pack (lame either way).
