Belle de Jour, anonymous blogger/author of Diary of a London Call Girl has finally come out. She is actually Dr Brooke Magnanti who specialises in developmental neurotoxicology and cancer epidemiology with a PhD in informatics, epidemiology and forensic science.
I gathered she was educated and well read (witty too) just from the way she wrote, but a science nerd as well? Excellent.
She’s copping a lot of crap and being called a lot of terrible things. But some of those people should take a closer look at their own lives before putting such ugly labels on others. Dr Magnanti told her tales with dignity, humour and self-reflection. It wasn’t all glamour and it wasn’t all positive, but she learned from every one of those experiences. Good for her.
I for one am still looking forward to reading more of her work for as long as she’s going to keep writing. She has a great writing style and sense of humour.
