The replacement EA Sports Active strap finally arrived today. It should have arrived last week but apparently I missed out on the last batch they sent. A call quickly rectified/clarified the situation.
The first photo is of the original damaged strap. The rip is where the velcro that goes around the thigh starts. That part tends to pull once you’ve tightened the strap, and it just looks like it gave way along the stitching and just kept going.
Comparing the two, the new strap’s stitch along the short velcro edge stops short of the top stitch corner before it turns diagonal. On the original strap, it went all the way to the corner. I’m not sure whether the stitching on the new one is by design or manufacturing inconsistency, but I’m hoping it’s a structural improvement.
The curved stitching on the right is what attaches the nunchuck pocket to the strap. On the original, the stitching on the other side was coming away from the top where you slide the nunchuck in and out. They went a little nuts with the reinforcing stitches on the new one, so I’m guessing that was noted too.
The warranty is also meant to reset for the new strap, so I should have another 90 days to determine whether it’ll last. I guess I’ll find out soon. :P
