Bottlenose dolphin shows off her butchering skills →
In other news, dolphins are really smart. These dolphins (at least the Australian ones) demonstrate that humans aren’t the only food snobs in the evolutionary scheme of things using a special method of preparing cuttlefish for optimal gastronomic enjoyment. Using just their mouths and snouts, dophins are able to gut and debone a cuttlefish making it much easier to eat. Lady dolphins have...

You know you're special..
D feels creative, and at 1am, I’m feeling intrigued… The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations: * I make no guarantees that you will like what I make! * What I create will be with you in mind. * It’ll be done sometime this year (2009) * You have no clue what it’s going...

I am at my brother’s house waiting for electricians to finish up doing stuff. They had to cut the power so I’m running on laptop battery with no internet. Productivity is very low and there’s about an hour’s electrical work left and less than an hour’s battery. Meanwhile I’m composing this on my N95 which isn’t particularly comfortable… I think I...

RE: To the woman that crapped in my car
Very funny post on Craigslist. It had a happy and hopefully less digestively challenging ending. We met on Craigslist so I am hoping that this post finds you. I know that it could quite possibly be the most humiliating first date that you have ever been on, but I am willing to look past that. I thought we had chemistry sitting at McMenamins sharing that basket of Cajun Tots while drinking the...

Schools phasing out cursive →
Well naturally. Now that teachers have become bored with not teaching kids how to read, it’s only natural that they stop teaching them how to write as well. Originally posted as a comment by CascadeHush on The Menstrom Cycle about Schools phasing out cursive using Disqus.

“Like designers, if you give a programmer a problem with parameters, they’ll...”
– programmers are tiny gods via slantback and brocatus okay, i am really getting sick of both designers and programmers with their high-horse shit. you shouldn’t have to approach your designer or your programmer with caution, they should be willing and ready to take whatever you throw at them and...

Crashed Ice →
Quebec hosts an extreme ice skating race called Crashed Ice, an event sponsored by Red Bull.  It’s like ice hockey but without sticks and pucks but just as frenetically paced. Canada sounds fantastic. Ice Hockey and Crashed Ice - ice, padding with a generous serving of conflict/collision… spectator sport bliss.

Chinese New Year! Oh my god! Chinese New Year! It’s almost 12:30am and there is MAYHEM in my ‘hood! Fireworks have been exploding CONSTANTLY for hours and hours! Burned shreds of red tissue paper from spent fireworks are piling up in drifts! The air is opaque with smoke. People are running through the streets screaming “Woooooo!” I have never seen Chinese people going...

I have once again been shunned by the deities of old computer games. In an effort to get some cross-platform-multiplayer-iConquer-esque action going, I tried to install Alpha Centauri onto OSX.  I hear the OSX/Mac port doesn’t work very well, so I grabbed my original Windows copy and tried to get it to run on Crossover Games.  No dice.  Apparently someone has managed to get it to run quite...
